Infect my idea and experience is that they fill proud of it that they can speak English or other foreign language but not Bengali. It gives me pain when they face an interview they say they love Bangladesh and its culture, also they advice to others to fallow own culture etc. I live nearly twenty years in Europe I have two kids the oldest one four years and he can speak batter Bengali than I can. I fill proud of it. It’s very simple because they live here when they go to school they must learn English or local language even we like it or not. In order to realize your originality it is my advice to Bangladeshi parents please fill proud of it when your children can speak your native language even living in foreign country. e-mail:

Written by sadia, on 18-05-2008 15:15 We've lived in Toronto for 12 years.My daughter was 5 yrs old when we arrived and my other 2 kids were born here .They speak bangla well.I do not agree with the idea that because she can't speak Bangla she does not represent us well. She continues to follow her culture in the U.S. while so many kids in BD who go to English medium schools don't want to talk in bangla or practice bangla culture.Their clothing has changed now looking much like the western style.I am really worried about bangladeshi kids in BD. Anyway I really appreciate Nora Ali, who represents our country with her full potential in the U.S. In her interview she looks very decent and simple, while in interviews of certain Bangla celebrities they wear such clothing that makes them look like they're from another planet. My advice to parents is to encourage your kids to practice their culture and religion.

My question to Nora Ali as far as American Bangladeshi people don't know how to speak in English very well . The way I'm talking its my experience. Nora Ali I know you are intelligent then other so why did you say you are not well in bangla. I think you are very well in bangla as far as I know. On interviews day you were pretending that you don't know bangla. Its not fair. wherever you live you shoud use your language.
